German luxury vehicle company BMW on Tuesday introduced its new bike BMW S 1000R in the Indian market. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 17.9 lakh. The second generation BMW S 1000R will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the BMW Group said in a statement. The bookings for this model have started from Tuesday itself at BMW Motorrad India dealerships.
Engine and performance
The new bike is 6.5 kg lighter in weight than the current model. The motorcycle is powered by a new water-cooled 4-cylinder in-line engine and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds. It has a maximum speed limit of 250 kmph. It produces 121 kW (165 hp) of power at 11,000 ppm. It has a maximum torque of 114 Nm and is available at 9250 rpm.
BMW S 1000 R Features
- The BMW S 1000 R will be available in three variants Standard (Rs 17.9 lakh), Pro (Rs 19.75 lakh) and Pro M Sport (Rs 22.5 lakh).
- It gets Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), ABS Pro, banking angle optimization and three riding modes “Rain”, “Road” and “Dynamic”.
- The Pro model also has an “Engine Brake” function in combination with Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR) and a “Power Wheel” function.
- Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) in the form of “Riding Modes Pro” option additionally assists the rider during emergency braking.
