Singapore High Commissioner , says companies keen to invest in Telangana

Hyderabad: High Commissioner of Singapore Simon Wong met Industries Minister KT Rama Rao at Pragati Bhavan here on Tuesday. He added that Telangana has many investment opportunities in various emerging sectors and will be offered to Singapore companies and investors.

“If Singapore companies show interest in investing in Telangana, the state government will set up a special zone or a Singapore hub,” the minister said.

High Commissioner of Singapore Simon Wong lauded the minister for coming up with the idea of setting up a special Singapore hub, saying that while he was working in Vietnam, similar initiatives were taken to attract investments and since then successfully turned on.

“We will definitely look at this proposal positively,” Simon Wong said. He further said that companies like DBS, which have invested in Telangana, have given positive feedback regarding the favourable environment in the state.

Simon Wong said, “In addition to the advanced sectors, Singaporean companies were keen to invest in the agriculture and food processing sectors.”

Rama Rao said, “Given the tough competition to attract international investments, Telangana was not only competing with other states in the country but also working hard to influence international companies.”

The minister said that the state has huge opportunities in life sciences, pharma, IT, textiles, food processing, agriculture and other sectors. Already several Singapore companies have invested in various sectors in Telangana and are continuing their operations comfortably, he said.

The Minister later felicitated the Singapore delegation including the Consul General of Singapore at Pong Kok Tian in Chennai.
